During our 2 year artist in residency, Luisa integrated meditation and musical sensory games into K-12 classrooms to support emotional balance, self-awareness, and community connection. Through playful musical experiences, students learn to notice their inner world, regulate emotions, and express themselves creatively. The residency culminated in a school wide Mural and Labyrinth installation where students had the chance to reflect on their own path to learning.
Body unit brain games are taught through activities that activate memory, focus and self-awareness. Luisa leads a series of focus-building rhythm activities included body percussion, sound meditation and playing the Handpan in her 10 piece Handpan ensembles. No prior music ability is required.

Luisa encountered the Handpan for the first time in 2016, an experience that would shape the next decade of her musical path. She has since designed and facilitated over 300+ mindful music programs for school classrooms K-12. In her workshop she invites participants into the tranquil world of Handpan melodies, capturing the instrument’s imaginative emotional and expressive potential.
Luisa's dedication to making music accessible to all abilities has lead her to explore music through the lens of deep listening, sound and meditation as a pathway to presence. She brings this embodied understanding into her teaching, creating a supportive and inspiring space where students can grow their musical understanding of this unique instrument and world percussion.
In Luisa's Handpan workshops she shares practical, easy-to-learn techniques that allow you to begin playing melodies and rhythms right away. She believes that everyone is musical, and that learning the Handpan is not only about playing an instrument, but about cultivating presence, sensitivity, and attunement, all essential qualities for everyday life.
